This morning we walked into the school to find it decorated beautifully for Christmas (A big thank you to the elves who “Decked the Halls” last night). We then went into the church for our daily Jesse Tree story and symbol in preparation for the birth of Christ. Fr. Michael Saporito read the children Santa’s Favorite Story by Hisako Aoki and we sang our prayer, “An Angel Came from Heaven”. Fr. Michael turned to me as we walked down the beautifully decorated hallway following happy, excited children and he said, “What a great way to start the day!”
You have given your child a Christmas gift by having them at HTIS Mountainside Campus, where they are learning that Christmas is about love, the love of Jesus for us and the love that surrounds them. Every day we are preparing for Christmas through prayer and song, learning the Nativity story, lighting our Advent wreaths, building our Jesse Tree and buying a gift for those in need. Yes, we are enjoying the fun of Christmas as we celebrate the true reason for the Christmas season. The children are learning that Christmas is not a generic holiday of gift buying. They are learning the story of a humble family in Bethlehem that changed the world, and gave us Christ our Savior. May you take the time to enjoy this joyous season with your child, create family traditions and be sure to wish all a Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!

Is HTIS in your future?
Our Kindergarten and PreK-4 families will be receiving a letter from our principal, Sr. Maureen Fichner, with this month’s newsletter. I hope you will take a few moments to read her thoughts and the comments of current families about the value of a Catholic education at HTIS. Remember, reregistration forms are due by December 15.
HTIS Stay and Play, Tuesday, December 9, 9:30-10:45
Please give the invitation for the Stay and Play to friends, family and neighbors who are interested in learning more about HTIS Mountainside Campus for the 2015-16 school year. It is the perfect opportunity for them to discover what a special place HTIS is for their children.
